Bertold Ulsamer has a degree in clinical Psychology and holds a PHD in law. Since 1995 he has lead workshops and facilitated trainings in Europe, USA and China. He did the 3-year training with Peter Levine in Trauma work ("Somatic Experiencing"). He is author of "The Healing Power of the Past" (amazon) and "The Art and Craft of Leading Family constellation" and of 7 other books about constellation work in Germany. He is leading his second 16-day training for facilitators about trauma and constellations in Italy. This workshop contains the first important parts of that training structure.
Guilt and Trauma Guilt is an essential human issue and it appears in many different forms. Especially when you want to heal a trauma, often guilt plays an important role. Guilt arises in perpetrators, but also in victims. There is the “survival guilt” of those who survived a man made or natural catastrophe from holocaust till tsunami. Or there stays an endlessly torturing guilt after an accident, which sometimes was totally unforeseeable like the sudden infant death. A mother may feel guilty and cannot be happy with her child because in her pregnancy she thought about the abortion of this child. Constellations teach what somebody needs to let go of guilt and to come in peace with the past. The workshop demonstrates this approach with personal examples of the participants or their clients.
Constellations as Instruments in Trauma Therapie – possibilities and Limits Constellations very often deal with transgenerational connections and with the bonds to the parents. But as a facilitator you will also be confronted with the shocks of your clients out of their own lives i. e. sexual abuse, early separation from the mother, accidents and losses. The earlier a shock took place, the less it is integrated, the bigger the challenge for the facilitator. Since clients fall back into the frozen state of the shock very easily, often not even noticed, this can retraumatise them. Therefore facilitators need to know more about trauma. Trauma Constellations demand a special attention, the right skills and a rich experience. Then they help to heal wounds, to reconnect bonds which had been torn apart and to come in peaceful terms with some horrible events which had happened. This training offers a basic understanding about trauma, the posttraumatic symptoms and how you can use constellations in trauma therapy. An additional goal is to widen the personal containment of the therapist in dealing with trauma. In order to reach these goals we work with constellations (personal issues and supervision cases) and do exercises or practice in small groups. (You may shorten that!)
